A Quran po-eŋ la Surah (chapters) a Bɔrfɔ boɔloo poɔŋ kyɛ la maaleŋ po-eŋ Ayah (verses) a Bɔrfɔ boɔloo poɔŋ. A sɛgebiri Ayah ŋa leɛbo meŋa a Bɔrfɔ kɔkɔre poɔ la "Sign [of Allah]".[1] Ka fooŋ boɔla ka fo nyɛ a Quran kyɛptare naŋ tutaa a tuubo meŋa see ka fo leɛ kaa a gampɛle Surah.[2]

The first surah of the Quran (Surah Al-Fatihah)

A surah kaŋa zaa a yi a awae soba yoŋ puoriŋ (At-Tawba) maŋ taa la a yelibi ŋmaa Tɛmpileti:Transliteration ("In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.") zuŋ.[3] Surahs lezare ne awae taa la Muqatta'at (lit. abbreviated or shortened) naŋ be a piiloo sɛŋ, sɛgebie mine naŋ maŋ lantaa ka neɛ zaa ba baŋ a tɛgɛ eŋ. A surah dɛŋdɛŋ soba naŋ be a Quran poɔŋ la Surah al-Fatiha.[4]

Surahs naŋ kyaare a Makkah saŋa taa la pare naŋ te kyaare yelizuri ŋa mine, ka ana la ama; kpi kyɛ iri yɛlɛ, dambo diibo yɛlɛ, aneŋ sensellɛ te kyaare a Judaism aneŋ Christianity. Surahs naŋ yi Medina saŋa meŋ te kyaare la merɛ ko nensaalaa Nyɔvɔre yɛlɛ, laŋkpeɛbo yɛlɛ, aneŋ a paalooŋ yɛlɛ.[5]
